Leigh Hansen, BA, LMT
Founder of Remedy Massage
For over fifteen years, Leigh Hansen has worked with clients to counteract the physical toll daily life takes on our bodies. By reducing muscular tension, restoring joint mobility and increasing kinesthetic awareness, Leigh moves clients away from stress and injury and toward optimal health.
After receiving her BA in Dance from New York University, Leigh pursued a performing career while teaching dance and creative movement at schools throughout NYC. She continued her education with postgraduate work at Columbia University in both dance and premedical studies. In the mid 1990’s Leigh studied with Julio Horvath, the creator of the Gyrotonic Expansion System and became a certified Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis instructor. She taught at Studio Riverside – Gyrotonic New York from 1997-2004 where she developed a passion for helping people decrease their aches and pains by increasing their mobility.
Leigh received her Associate Degree in Massage Therapy from The Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences in 2002 and opened her private massage practice on Manhattan’s Upper West Side that same year. She also has a certification in perinatal massage from Niara Healing Arts and was on staff at the Prenatal Massage Center of Manhattan for several years.
Leigh tailors her massage treatments to meet the specific and often changing needs of each client. Several times a year, Leigh returns to the classroom for master level seminars and workshops to stay up to date on the latest research and techniques in her field. Her work has brought relief and rejuvenation to a wide variety of people including injured athletes, individuals recovering from cancer, those dealing with the effects of chronic diseases such as Parkinson’s and lupus and exhausted, achy, new mothers.
Karen Kitz-Clancy, LMT
Karen Kitz-Clancy has been a NYS licensed massage therapist for 20 years. She has worked in the spa and medical fields of massage, as well as in private practice. She is certified in Swedish, Sports and Deep Tissue Massage, as well as prenatal and reflexology. She has been a proud staff member of Remedy Massage since 2009.
Stephanie DeCaprio, LMT
Stephanie DeCaprio received her Associate of Occupational Studies from the Swedish Institute in 2010. She has trained in both eastern and western modalities of bodywork as well as medical massage. Stephanie is currently studying European manual osteopathy which deals with subtle adjustments to help open the flow of energy, blood and lymph. Her specialities are prenatal, deep tissue, shiatsu and sports massage; all including stretches and joint mobilization.
Marta Espitia, LMT
Marta Espitia has practiced massage therapy in New York State for over 10 years. She specializes in rehabilitative treatment using Massage Therapy to treat conditions such as neck pain, low back pain, sciatica, rotator-cuff injury, and plantar fasciitis. As a 20-year veteran of long-distance running, Marta enjoys providing relief from sports-related injuries using a combination of Sports, Deep-Tissue, and Medical Massage. Additionally, she has practiced Prenatal Massage for 10 years with a certification from Niara Healing Arts. Marta is a graduate of the Swedish Institute of Massage, has a BFA from New York University, is a Masters Candidate in Forensic Psychology from Argosy University, and is fluent in Spanish.
Sarah Mullinger, LMT, NCBTMB
Sarah Mullinger has been practicing therapeutic massage and bodywork since 2006, with her original training in her hometown of San Francisco, California. After moving to New York City, Sarah received her Associate Degree in Occupational Studies from the Swedish Institute in 2010 and has since continued her education with a variety of post-graduate courses. With professional experience ranging from medical offices to spas, and a regular clientele including everyone from tri-athletes and dancers, to people recovering from injury and dealing with chronic pain, Sarah endeavors to help each client come closer to their goals of wellness.
MaryAnne Dumont, LMT
MaryAnne Dumont, LMT, received her BA in theater from Connecticut College and her massage training from the Swedish Institute.
She has been practicing body work for twenty five years. She is a Reiki master, trained in the Usui method and teaches workshops around the NYC area.
A craniosacral practioner, she is very excited to offer this modality at Remedy Massage and to be part of this excellent team.
Stephanie Ann MacNeill, LMT
Stephanie Ann has been a licensed massage therapist since 2010. She received her Associate Degree in Occupational Studies from the Swedish Institute and specializes in Deep Tissue, Sports, Medical and Swedish massage techniques. Stephanie Ann has given post event care to athletes at the Tough Man, ING marathon, MS Bike, Manhattan Island Swim and Outriggers events. She received her certificate in Sound & Music PRAC training in June 2013 and is currently studying ways to integrate sound and music healing with massage.
Serafina Martino, BMus, LMT
Serafina Martino received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Victoria. In 2010 she received her Associate Degree in Occupational Studies from the Swedish Institute and has been a practicing LMT since then. Serafina specializes in Deep Tissue, Sports, Medical and Swedish massage modalities. Serafina’s experience has been in medical offices and private practice. Her regular clientele includes triathletes, dancers, musicians and the elderly. Serafina is dedicated to bringing wellness to each client.
Marcie Cohn, LMT
Marcie Cohn has been a licensed massage therapist for 14 years. Her post graduate education includes coursework in myofascial release, structural integration, massage for people with cancer and more. She is skilled at deep tissue, results-oriented massage and is also a Reiki practitioner (for humans and their animal companions).
