Leigh Hansen, LMT

Leigh Hansen, LMT

Founder of Remedy Massage

For over a decade, Leigh Hansen has worked with clients to counteract the physical toll daily life takes on our bodies. By reducing muscular tension, restoring joint mobility and increasing kinesthetic awareness, Leigh moves clients away from stress and injury and toward optimal health.

After receiving her BA in Dance from New York University in 1991, Leigh pursued a performing career while teaching dance and creative movement at schools throughout NYC. She continued her education with postgraduate work at Columbia University in both dance and premedical studies. In the mid 1990’s Leigh studied with Julio Horvath, the creator of the Gyrotonic Expansion System and became a certified Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis instructor. She taught at Studio Riverside – Gyrotonic New York from 1997-2004 where she developed a passion for helping people decrease their aches and pains by increasing their mobility.

Leigh received her Associate Degree in Massage Therapy from The Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences in 2002 and opened her private massage practice on Manhattan’s Upper West Side that same year. She also has a certification in perinatal massage from Niara Healing Arts and was  on staff at the Prenatal Massage Center of Manhattan for several years.

Leigh tailors her massage treatments to meet the specific and often changing needs of each client. Several times a year, Leigh returns to the classroom for master level seminars and workshops to stay up to date on the latest research and techniques in her field. Her work has brought relief and rejuvenation to a wide variety of people including injured athletes, individuals recovering from cancer, those dealing with the effects of chronic diseases such as Parkinson’s and lupus and exhausted, achy, new mothers.
